Rev. William F. Malambri III
Rev. Will Malambri grew up in Rock Hill, SC in the shadow of Winthrop University. While most of his family was involved there, Will was increasingly involved with their church--St. Johns UMC. Various ministries, including choirs, youth group, Salkehatchie Summer Service, Chrysalis, and Disciple Bible Study, along with the encouragement of several persons, helped Will begin to discern a call to ordained ministry. In response to that developing call, he entered Wofford College in 1993. While there majoring in religion, Will was involved in various campus organizations, including the United Methodist and Presbyterian fellowships and service organizations. Will traveled internationally as the 1997 Presidential International Scholar. He also was fortunate to date fellow Terrier Sally McIntyre, who would become his wife in 1999.
After graduating from Wofford in 1998, Will entered the Divinity School at Duke University. The classes and internships both served to confirm that God was calling Will into ordained ministry. Finishing Duke with a Master's of Divinity in 2001, Will began serving in the South Carolina Annual Conference at Central UMC in Florence. While in Florence, Will was ordained (2004), co-edited (with Rev. Michael Turner) A Peculiar Prophet: William H. Willimon and the Art of Preaching (Abingdon Press, 2004), Sally completed a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education, and their children, Mac and Annagray, were born and baptized. Always interested in sports and fitness, it was in Florence that Will began to ride bicycles and jog regularly and stopped eating meat. As one of his friends noted, "If you can do that in Florence, you can do it anywhere."
In 2009 the Malambris were appointed to St. James UMC, Spartanburg and enjoyed three wonderful years there. In June of 2012 the Malambris returned to Florence, as Will assumed the role of Senior Pastor at Central. They are delighted to be part of this exceptional church and give thanks for the many vital ministries offered here.
Will serves on the Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, the District Committee on Ordained Ministry, and the Spartanburg Methodist Board of Trustees. He is also on the Steering Committee for Help4Kids in Florence.
Will invites you to contact him by e-mail, phone, or by stopping by the church office.
